Dr. Douglas C. White is President, APC Services, for the Performance Solutions Division of Emerson Process Management. Previously he was President of MDC Technology Inc., President of Profitpoint Solutions Inc., Senior Vice President for Automation Technology for Aspen Technology Inc., and President and Chairman of Setpoint Inc. Dr. White joined Setpoint after positions with Metromation, a computer system assembler and solution provider, and Caltex Petroleum Corporation.

Dr. White has special expertise in the field of advanced manufacturing automation applications. He has more than twenty years experience designing, developing, managing and implementing state-of-the-art advanced automation and optimization systems in process plants around the world. He has authored or co-authored more than forty technical papers, many documenting first-of-a-kind system installations.

Dr. White received the Bachelor of Chemical Engineering degree from the University of Florida, the Master of Science degree from California Institute of Technology, and the Master of Arts and Ph.D. degrees from Princeton University - all in chemical engineering. He is a member of AIChE, ISA, and the IEEE Control Systems Society.
